Rob Astorino is an American politician, broadcaster, and media executive with a distinguished career spanning public service and communications. A lifelong resident of Westchester County, New York, he served as County Executive from 2010 to 2017 and was the Republican nominee for Governor of New York in 2014.
Astorino’s public service journey began early. At just 21, while still a student at Fordham University, he was elected to the Mount Pleasant School Board. His political career deepened with a 12-year tenure on the Mount Pleasant Town Board, including six years as Deputy Supervisor. In 2003, he won a seat on the Westchester County Board of Legislators, laying the groundwork for his future 8-year leadership of one million people as Westchester County Executive.
Astorino built a successful career in media. In 2001, he helped launch ESPN Radio in New York City, serving as program director and executive producer of The Michael Kay Show. Astorino also made a significant impact in religious broadcasting. He was the station manager and program director for The Catholic Channel on SiriusXM. He co-hosted a weekly program from St. Patrick’s Cathedral alongside the Cardinal-Archbishop and traveled around the country interviewing bishops and church leaders. His extensive coverage of the 2008 Apostolic Journey of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States and private audience with the Holy Father earned him a rare invitation to speak at the Vatican about the importance of contemporary Catholic media.
A committed Catholic, Astorino has been active in his hometown parish as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and CYO basketball coach. Additionally, Rob was appointed by Cardinal Timothy Dolan as his delegate to the Mother Cabrini Foundation, is an advisor to the St. Padre Pio Foundation, and is the Master of Ceremonies at the annual St. Joseph Seminary Gala. He currently hosts Saturday Agenda and is the senior political contributor on Newsmax and hosts The Rob Astorino Show on iHeart's 710 WOR Radio in New York. Before that, he was a frequent guest on Fox News and a Republican contributor at CNN.
Aside from his media work, Rob is an independent director of Gabelli Dividend and Income Trust (NYSE: GDV), a $3 billion investment holding company. In his broadcasting career, Rob has been front and center for some of the biggest events, such as the conclave that elected Pope Leo XIV, the funeral of Pope Francis, Election Night and the Inauguration of President Donald J. Trump, Presidential debates, Republican National Conventions, Super Bowls, World Series, NBA Finals, NHL Stanley Cups, Daytona 500, The US Open and PGA Championship.
Astorino earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Fordham University, with minors in Spanish and Political Science. He also holds a Spanish Immersion Diploma from the Enforex School in Barcelona, Spain. He and his wife Sheila live in New York and have three children - a son in the US Air Force, a daughter in college and another daughter in high school. They also love two dogs, Bella, a Shih Tzu and Luna, a Maltese-Shih Tsu.
