Rebecca’s experience encompasses growing up as an over achiever athlete, making teams, traveling the world extensively, competitions, retirements and God inspired comebacks. As a teenager she received challenges to her faith, which saw her eventually leave the spotlight as one of the best skiers in the United States. However, God cannot be out done. She came out of retirement with her family in tow and together they traveled and supported her racing through the 2006 Olympics. She is truly a "multi-sport momma" and currently races pro in 6 sports.
She has, over the term of her athletic career, been married and has four beautiful and athletic, children. She is expecting number 5. She fondly calls those mini retirements her “baby breaks” and has resumed full-fledged competition in between each birth, witnessing to the world the power of the family to aim for and strive after goals as gospel witnesses. She is not deterred by standards set by others and is hungry to rewrite the history of what a mother can achieve athletically whilst being totally true to her vocation. She has competed in the World Championships of 4 different sports on 3 separate continents.
Publications the world over have touted Rebecca as a “truly, faithful Catholic athlete.” She, together with her spouse and eldest son, were featured leading up to the Olympics on EWTN’s Life on the Rock. The catholic diocesan papers in the USA have run her story in many locales to inspire youth and adults alike. She has been a guest on many radio shows and television segments. She empowers the audience on facing a sporting culture where we must desire and burn for the Truth and make use our God given abilities to witness to starving souls and bring them to Christ.
She has a devotion to Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati (the Man of the Beatitudes) of Torino, Italy, the place of her Olympic debut. His intercession and brotherhood with her is nothing short of riveting and inspirational.
