Mikayla's mission is to tell the world about the hope and love of Jesus Christ. Many do not know their true identity in God’s eyes and have lost their sense of purpose. Mikayla talks about who we are in Christ and the incredible value we have as children of God. She is a living testimony to St. Augustine’s beautiful words "you have formed us for yourself and our hearts are restless until they find rest in You."
Growing up Mikayla struggled with her sense of identity and self worth. She placed her value in friendships, popularity, physical beauty and what others thought of her. This led to a life of sin, brokenness and ultimately a deep emptiness and longing for more. Thankfully though, God loves us enough to never leave us where we are...
He used her trials and heartache as part of His redemptive plan for her. She has walked through teenage pregnancy and lost loved ones tragically through suicide and cancer. But it was in her pain and life experiences that Mikayla encountered God’s love in a way that has changed her life forever and transformed her from within. She has seen His faithfulness over and over again and tasted His goodness. She has learned to trust, to love, and serve the Lord in a far greater capacity all because His love has changed her. His love on the cross is displayed in tangible ways and Mikayla sees her need for a Savior everyday.
She has come to know a God that does not abandons us, but enters into our struggles to comfort us and to hold us, to give us grace and strength to persevere….He is a redeemer, a healer, and comes to make all things new in our lives including our hearts. He brings beauty out of brokenness and good out of every circumstance if we let Him.
Mikayla talks about the nature of who God is as our heavenly Father and who we are as His beloved sons and daughters. She speaks to the truth that each person’s life has profound meaning and purpose. She is a witness to Christ’s love and healing poured out for us in His Word and through the Sacraments as well as the freedom we can experience if we choose to follow God’s ways. As we grow in wholeness and holiness we can become the persons He has created us to be and can more fully embrace the new life we are called to live.
Mikayla is married to Matt Owens and is a devoted mother to three beautiful children, Ava, Matthew, and Ellianna. She speaks and leads worship at youth events, conferences, retreats, high schools, churches around Greater Cincinnati and Kentucky areas. She is passionate about drawing others closer to Christ!
