A former RCA Records recording artist from EWTN, Michael Bethea is best known and loved as one of the singers of the ‘Chaplet of Divine Mercy In Song’ which airs weekends, worldwide on the network. A former RCA Records recording artist, Michael changed direction both personally and professionally after a near-death experience. Through conferences and concerts, Michael’s amazing voice touches the hearts of believers and unbelievers alike, with the message of Christ’s love and mercy.
Former RCA Records recording artist, Michael Bethea, first discovered a love for singing at the age of 5, performing at his kindergarten graduation. After winning several high school music honors, he was accepted on a full vocal scholarship to Jackson State University. Michael recorded two albums while under contract to RCA and has shared the stage with Keith Urban, CeCe Winans, Bo Diddley, Jeff Carlisi (38 Special), and Greg Barnhill (Singer, songwriter for Vince Gill, Amy Grant). Being struck with a rare, near-fatal illness years ago, inspired Michael to change direction, both personally and professionally. Michael signed with Catholic/Christian indie label, Soulplay Records, and recently released his first Contemporary Christian album entitled, ‘Real.‘ “It was time to give it all back to God,” says Michael, “He spared my life for a purpose.” After ten days in a coma, sustained only by life-support, Michael was dying. The emergency room doctors had exhausted all treatment and given up hope. His family never stopped praying and defying all medical explanation, Michael was miraculously healed. Michael is eager to share his testimony... “There comes a time in life when you have to make a decision... God spared my life and gave me another chance to make a difference in this world. Family and faith are everything to me. I have a God-given opportunity in this life to not ‘sell-out’ as a man or a father, and this has given me great peace and freedom - it’s made me a better singer, a better artist. There comes a time when you realize this ride doesn't last forever. At this stage of the game it’s not about me, it’s about the message. Every concert, every conference, every song I sing has a goal… to move beyond ourselves and lift up a hurting world; to glorify the name of Jesus Christ; to bring others to the know the great gift of His love and mercy for all mankind, this is my inspiration and my hope.” ENDORSEMENT
“Michael has been a messenger around the world through EWTN for Divine Mercy,
and has generously given of his gifts over the years to many of our pro-life, pro-family projects.
He has always worked whole-heartedly from a spirit of unity, feels strongly about reaching out
inter-denominationally. He is a gifted and gentle faith-filled man with one powerful voice.
It is not surprising that he has touched so many lives through his music.”
