Maurice Prater is an author, speaker, and dedicated Catholic lay evangelist whose work has inspired families, children, and faith communities across the country. He holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Washington University in Saint Louis and has devoted his professional life to serving the Catholic Church in the areas of communications, development, and faith formation since 1999.
Currently, Maurice serves as the Advancement Director for the Missionaries of the Holy Family, a religious community of Catholic priests and brothers with a special charism for strengthening family life. In this role, he not only promotes the order’s mission but also helps bring their spirituality and message to a wider audience through creative media and outreach. He was the in-house editor of the Holy Family Prayer Book, published in both English and Spanish by Liguori Publications, which has become a cherished devotional resource for families and parishes.
Maurice’s talents extend into Catholic media and publishing. As a member of the Catholic Writers Guild, he has overseen the production of the Family Moment videos, which continue to air periodically on the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), sharing short reflections that uplift and strengthen Catholic families. He is also the author of four beloved children’s books published by Divine Providence Press: Counting on Faith, Saved by the Alphabet, What Color is Heaven?, and Kiss Me Goodnight. These works blend faith with storytelling, making Catholic teaching approachable, joyful, and inspiring for young readers.
A gifted communicator with a passion for evangelization, Maurice is available to speak to Catholic schools, parishes, and faith-based organizations. He regularly presents on the topics of faith, family, and Catholic values, offering engaging, age-appropriate presentations for children, teens, and adults. In addition to in-person events, Maurice is available for Zoom events and virtual presentations, making him accessible to schools and groups across the country and beyond.
