Lizzie Reezay is a Catholic convert, digital evangelist, and mental health advocate. She is known for her popular YouTube channel, LizziesAnswers, that has surpassed 230k subscribers. She became known in the Catholic world when she announced in 2018 that she was converting to Catholicism after growing up hating the Catholic Church. She lost thousands of subscribers after she announced her plan to convert and was fired from her missionary organization.
Soon after her announcement, Lizzie appeared on the cover of the Catholic Herald and was featured on EWTN and the National Catholic Register. These opportunities helped Lizzie reach a Catholic audience. Her subsequent apologetics videos have also inspired thousands of viewers and helped them encounter the Catholic faith. On a daily basis, she receives comments and messages from people sharing how her videos were pivotal to their spiritual journeys.
Lizzie started her YouTube channel in high school and has been making YouTube videos for 15 years. She has uploaded over 1,000 videos (hundreds of which are on the Catholic faith) and regularly posts reels on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Lizzie was raised as a passionate Protestant in the denomination Church of Christ, which instilled a strong desire to think with the early church and value the authority of Scripture. She spent the first few years of her life in Russia, while her parents served as Protestant missionaries.
She later attended college at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. and majored in philosophy. Her college experience included classes like logic and philosophy of religion but she was also able to take courses in Church History and Biblical Greek. These classes gradually pushed Lizzie in a Catholic direction, rejecting the doctrine of Sola Fide when she studied the etymology of pistis (the Greek word for faith), and questioning Sola Scriptura after learning about the canonization of the New Testament.
It was not until she was 22 years old that she finally underwent a deep spiritual and intellectual conversion upon encountering the Church Fathers. At the same time, Lizzie has used her Youtube channel to share her journey living with bipolar disorder. In fact, the Catholic Church’s teaching about redemptive suffering helped her live with depression and make sense of suffering in the world. Lizzie often shares how these mental health struggles pushed her in a Catholic direction, living through a year of depression and being diagnosed with bipolar at the end of college. Along with medication and therapy, the Catholic faith helped her live with joy and gratitude.
In 2024, Lizzie gave birth to her daughter and started sharing Catholic content around motherhood and how faith is intertwined with her family. She continues to make videos about Catholicism and mental health. These experiences point to Lizzie’s unique ability to address controversial topics with a steady sense of compassion and commitment to truth. This approach is evident through her YouTube videos on Catholicism but is also expressed when she speaks openly about mental health challenges and shares details about her life as a new mother. Lizzie always speaks with an inexhaustible sense of joy that is based in her dignity before God. She primarily shares her message internationally to teens, college students, and young adults, but has also served in CCD, youth ministry, and adult formation at her local parish.
