There is a Resurrection in our future. The most studied relic in history gives compelling evidence of Jesus' Resurrection. Perhaps you've heard of the Shroud of Turin. I have had the privilege of working with the world's foremost authority on the Shroud, Dr John P. Jackson, who led the 1978 STURP team in their scientific study of the Shroud. This presentation is a comprehensive overview of the factual information we know, as well as the the 'open questions' which still remain.
The Shroud is for everyone because the Resurrection is for everyone. Could there be a more relevant topic which interests every person? Since 2014 I have been invited to more than 30 states and 50 dioceses to share the message of the Shroud. My specific niche is to serve as a bridge between the scientists and people. 40 years of teaching science provided a foundation for understanding the many scientific findings of the Shroud. But how does one explain this in a way that people can understand? My Master's Degree in Secondary Education focused on explaining things in such a way so that people can understand it. I typically give 35-45 presentations a year and audiences have provided consistent feedback that after seeing this presentation, they "get it".
But it's not just the science of the Shroud that resonates with people. The Shroud is a message of hope. We are a body and a soul. By uniting truth with the human heart we can nurture both. Whether an audience is new to the Shroud, knows a few things about the Shroud, or is well-versed in the Shroud. This presentation will provide everyone with an opportunity to learn more about the Shroud. Have there been any miracles with the Shroud? And what about that carbon dating test of 1988 . . . ? These topics and others are addressed. One of the more common responses I've heard after this presentation goes something like this - 'I came here not quite sure if the Shroud is the authentic burial cloth of Jesus. After seeing all of this new information, the better question now is How could it not be authentic?
What began as a presentation to 7 religious communities, has grown into a mission of sharing the message of the Shroud with universities, high schools, grade schools, parishes (Catholic and non-Catholic), prisons, seminaries, TV, and radio audiences. More than 400 presentations in the past 11 years. And all of this by word of mouth since I did not have a website. God provides. My wife and I have been married over 40 years and live in Lincoln, Nebraska. We have 6 adult children with 14-and-counting grandkids. Fr Mitch Pacwa hosted me on EWTN in 2022 and I've given presentations in many convention/conference settings, including the International Shroud Conference in St Louis (2025), the Midwest Family Conference in Wichita and Catholic Medical Association Conferences.
Speaking Topic
I have several presentations which are tailored to the audience age and time allowed. Specifically we investigate the unique features of the Shroud, its history, the many conversions which have resulted from the Shroud, what are the image-formation hypotheses, and a lively Q & A. I can do this in a single presentation, or divide it into 2-3 presentations depending on the time frame allowed.
