Born in Jalisco, Mexico, Fr. Castillo came to the United States in 1990. He was ordained for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2001 and has served in the following archdiocesan parishes: St. Margaret Mary Church, Lomita, 2001-2005 (Associate Pastor); Epiphany Church, South El Monte, 2005-2006 (Associate Pastor) and St. Frances of Rome Church, Azusa, 2006-2012 (Administrator/Pastor). In 2012 he began graduate studies in Rome, where he obtained his Licensiate (2014) and Doctoral (2016) degrees at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Spiritual Theology. He successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in May, 2016, entitled: “The Spirituality of Diocesan Priesthood in the Writings of St. John of Avila, Priest and Doctor of the Church.” He began his duties as Spiritual Director of our seminary in July 2016.
