Dr. Stephen Sammut is a behavioral neuroscientist, and a dynamic, passionate, inspiring and qualified speaker on a broad variety of topics pertaining to many of the burning ethical, moral and scientific questions facing the medical and scientific community and society in general (e.g., sexuality, drug abuse and behavioral addictions, abortion, abortion pill reversal), in a manner that is understandable to all. He is an expert in explaining and presenting science and scientific evidence, outlining the relevance and application at a practical level and never shying away from stating the hard truths.
Dr. Sammut graduated with a pharmacy degree from Monash University in Victoria, Australia followed by a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Malta, Europe. Through his research career, Dr. Sammut’s research has contributed to our understanding of various psychopathologies including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease and drug abuse.
He has authored and co-authored several papers in leading scientific journals relating to the research he has conducted, including two groundbreaking studies addressing abortion and abortion pill reversal at a preclinical level.
His preclinical research is supplemented with extensive research relating to psychopathology in humans, addressing significant and sensitive topics impacting human behavior and society. These include pornography, spirituality, impulsivity and other behaviors that impact mental health. Dr. Sammut’s work has been cited extensively globally, both in academic and popular (e.g. Forbes Magazine) journals.
In addition to his publications Dr. Sammut has presented his work at various conferences and institutions, nationally and internationally, in person and in radio, TV and podcast interviews. His presentations have also addressed the interaction between science, faith, politics and social dynamics.
Dr. Sammut’s research efforts continue to be focused on three primary areas: 1) research seeking to understand the deeper neurological and physiological consequences of drug-induced abortion, 2) research addressing the abortion pill-reversal, 3) research addressing the development of an animal model for relocating the embryo in ectopic pregnancy and finally and in line with his research interest in psychopathology and the application of scientific research in assisting in better understanding human behavior, 4) Dr. Sammut also conducts research addressing mental health and related behaviors in the university student population, with global implications not just at the student level but also in the wider community
