Dr. Scott Powell is a teacher, speaker, theologian, author, and podcast host, who--with his wife--founded Camp Wojtyla; a dynamic ministry that teaches the riches of the Catholic faith to young people through outdoor adventure. He is also the director of the Aquinas Institute for Catholic Thought, an intellectual outreach to the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Scott has spent over a decade teaching and inspiring audiences of all ages with the truths of the Catholic faith and its Scriptures. Currently, he serves as director of the Aquinas Institute for Catholic Thought, where he engages students, staff, and community members at the University of Colorado in Boulder with the rich Catholic intellectual tradition. He has also been a teacher at Denver's Augustine Institute and spent seven years teaching the Scriptures at the Denver Catholic Biblical School--the lay division of the Saint John Vianney Theological Seminary.
Scott has appeared in numerous Augustine Institute Studio productions, including, Symbolon, Beloved, Reborn, YDisciple, and the Opening the Word series, and has been featured on EWTN, Catholic Answers Live, and numerous other Catholic outlets. He also co-hosts the popular podcast The Word on the Hill with the Lanky Guys, which reaches over 10,000 listeners per week.
Scott and his wife Annie are the founders and directors of Camp Wojtyla, an outdoor ministry which teaches and inspires young people with the Catholic faith through adventure expeditions in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. They serve hundreds of middle school, high school, college students, and seminarians each year from around the country and the world.
Scott has spoken and taught on biblical and theological topics at parishes, conferences, universities, and youth groups all around the world. In the summer of 2016, he and his wife Annie addressed 30,000 pilgrims at World Youth Day in Krakow Poland.
Scott and his wife met serving with FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students and now do ministry along with their three children, Lily Avila, Samuel Isaac, and Evelyn Luca.
