Dr. Bill Creasy served for nearly thirty years on the UCLA English Department faculty where his flagship course, The English Bible as Literature, placed him among the top two percent of UCLA's teaching faculty. In 1995 he took his teaching into the larger Christian community throughout southern California and Arizona. Dr. Norman L. Geisler and Ralph E. MacKenzie, in their book Roman Catholics and Evangelicals (Baker Academic Press, 1995) call Dr. Creasy a "Bible teacher extraordinaire." In 2022 Who's Who in America recognized Dr. Creasy as among the top one percent of the nation's educators.
In 1995 Dr. Creasy took his popular UCLA The English Bible as Literature course into the larger Christian community, teaching verse-by-verse through the entire Bible, Genesis through Revelation, in parishes and churches throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Phoenix, Arizona. His courses were professionally recorded, studio edited and published in audio format with thousands of 5-star reviews.
Today via the Internet tens of thousands of listeners follow Dr. Creasy's teaching daily! Dr. Creasy has been chosen as an honorary Mortar Board member at UCLA; he has been appointed as a member of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Spirituality Commission; and he has served as Scholar in Residence at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, the first Christian scholar to hold that appointment. The San Diego Ecumenical Council has also honored him for his teaching and his work in ecumenism. Dr. Creasy has spoken at countless professional gatherings, and he has served as keynote speaker at such functions as the Episcopal Bishops’ Conference. Dr. Creasy recommends one of three formats for his talks: A simple two-hour evening presentation, with a fifteen-minute break in the middle. A single day seminar (typically on a Saturday) with two hour-long talks in the morning, a lunch break, and two hour-long talks in the afternoon followed by a vigil Mass at day's end. Or a full weekend retreat with an opening talk on Friday evening, two Saturday morning talks, a lunch break, two Saturday afternoon talks, and a closing Sunday morning talk followed by Sunday Mass.
Dr. Creasy’s most recent book, "Reading the Bible, a Literary Guide to Scripture," will be published in paper, digital, and audio by Zondervan/HarperCollins in 2025, and his translation of Thomas a Kempis's "Imitation of Christ," 3rd ed. (Mercer University Press, 2015) has become the standard translation of this Latin spiritual classic.
