Deacon Joe Grote, a Catholic deacon and author, is passionate about strengthening families by supporting fathers in their roles as husbands, dads, and mentors. His book, "Where Have All the Fathers Gone? Daily Thoughts for Dads, Dads-to-Be, and Papas" was inspired by a 2010 letter he wrote to the Cincinnati Enquirer regarding the absence of grieving fathers in local murder cases. This sparked a mission to address the growing crisis of fatherlessness.
For 18 years, Deacon Joe has led the F.A.T.H.E.R.S. group at his parish, guiding men in strengthening their relationships with their families and faith. He draws on his personal experiences, decades of coaching youth sports, and his Catholic upbringing in his speaking engagements and mentorship.
His work emphasizes the importance of small men’s groups, mentoring, and supporting each other through the challenges of family life. Deacon Joe’s message has resonated with men's groups across the country, including the Knights of Columbus and corporate webinars.
He is also working to launch the Abraham Foundation which will distribute his book to prisons, drop-in centers, and places where men seek guidance to become better fathers and husbands.
Deacon Joe lives in Cincinnati with his wife of 46 years, Ann, their four children, five grandchildren, and their Labrador, Levon.
