In an unthinkable turn of events, Jeff was targeted and set up for prosecution by the FBI and the Department of Justice in Los Angeles. He fought back and eventually won the case. President Trump called the case a “witchhunt,” “illegal weaponization," and “baseless.” The President added that Congressman Fortenberry is "a highly respected American public servant."

Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Fortenberry pursued higher education at Louisiana State University, Georgetown University, and Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he earned a Master's in Theology. Jeff and his wife Celeste live in Nebraska; they have five daughters, and three grandchildren.
